Coach Guide

Build programs, run your roster, and track your team's progress.

For Coaches

The coach console, tab by tab

Overview
Your team at a glance: recent activity, who's training, who's gone quiet, and your weekly plan.
Roster
Invite players, edit their details, and link guardians.
Exercises
Build your exercise library โ€” descriptions, demo videos, and Sonar camera-counting setup.
Programs
Bundle exercises into programs, then lay out the team's week with the weekly plan.
Metrics
Record measured results from practice โ€” sprint times, jumps โ€” that feed personal and team records.
Team stats
The leaderboard, training totals, activity patterns, and category breakdowns for your whole roster.
Communications
Choose which automated emails your team's families receive โ€” completions, streak nudges, comeback notes, and the weekly digest.

Coach access is scoped to your assigned team(s) โ€” you'll only ever see your own players, and account management for players and parents stays with them.

Building your roster

  1. Step 1: Invite your players
From the Roster tab, send email invites. Players create their own accounts; their parents get linked as guardians (up to four per athlete) so every family stays in the loop automatically.
  2. Step 2: Fill in the hockey details
Positions and jersey numbers make the roster, leaderboard, and record feed read like a real team sheet.
  3. Step 3: Watch the dashboard come alive
As players train, the Overview and Team stats tabs fill in โ€” including who hasn't trained lately, so you know who needs a nudge at practice.

Creating exercises (and wiring up Sonar)

The Exercises tab is your library. Each exercise gets a name, category, description, and optionally a demo video and a play-along video athletes can train to. The wizard walks you through it.

Making an exercise camera-verified

Enable Sonar on an exercise and the camera counts athletes' reps automatically (see the Sonar guide for how it works and why it's private). You choose:

Always Test before you publish
Every exercise has a Test button โ€” run it yourself exactly as a player would, camera and all. Test runs record nothing: no completions, no stats, no records. It's the fastest way to sanity-check a rep target or a strictness setting before your team sees it.

Programs & the weekly plan

  1. Step 1: Bundle exercises into programs
A program is a complete workout: warm-up to finisher, in order. Keep them short enough to finish on a school night โ€” consistency beats volume.
  2. Step 2: Lay out the week
The weekly plan puts programs on days: drag programs onto specific weekdays, or set a times-per-week target and let the app spread them out. Include rest programs โ€” recovery days count toward streaks, so athletes aren't punished for resting.
  3. Step 3: Players see it as 'Today'
Each athlete's Today tab shows exactly what you scheduled. They must catch up on this week's assigned program(s) โ€” today's plus any missed days, resetting each Sunday โ€” before other programs unlock for bonus training. So your plan is always the main course, never skipped for dessert.
The weekly-plan bonus chest
Every published weekly plan carries a bonus chest: any athlete who completes every workout you scheduled that week earns it automatically. It's the game rewarding exactly what you want: a full week of your plan, done.

Metrics, verified results & team records

The Metrics tab is for what you measure at practice with a stopwatch and a tape: sprint times, jump distances, agility drills. Coach-entered results are record-eligible โ€” alongside Sonar-verified reps, they're the only numbers that can set personal and team records. (Athlete-typed numbers never are.)

Using the game layer like a coach

Coach questions, answered

Can I message a player directly?
No โ€” by design. There is no private coach-to-athlete channel of any kind; families hear from the platform through automated notifications that always include guardians. This protects your athletes and you. See Athlete Safety.
A player says Sonar is miscounting. What do I do?
First, Test the exercise yourself โ€” you'll usually spot it in one run (framing, lighting, or strictness). Then adjust: drop the strictness a level for younger athletes, or check the exercise's stance guidance (some movements need the camera side-on). The Sonar guide has the setup checklist.
Can I see another team's roster or stats?
Only teams you're assigned to coach. Access is scoped per team and per organization for everyone's privacy.
What happens when I edit a program mid-week?
Players see the updated program the next time they open their dashboard. Completed workouts keep the historical results they were completed with.
Do test runs mess up team stats?
Never. Test runs are completely unrecorded โ€” no completions, no points, no records, no emails. Test freely.
